On July 8th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read aloud in three cities, Philadelphia, PA... Trenton, NJ... and Easton, PA.
Above the crowd flew the what is believed to be the very first flag to represent our new nation. It wasn't until June 14, 1777 (a.k.a. Flag Day) that the Continental Congress voted to adopt the Betsy Ross flag as the official flag of the United States of America.
